Pratt & Whitney Signs Five New Engine Management Program Contracts

Pratt & Whitney recently signed five new contracts for its Engine Management Program (EMP) service in which Pratt & Whitney monitors and helps maintain customers' engine performance.

Through these agreements, Pratt & Whitney has two new U.S.-based customers -- Southern Air, located in Norwalk, Conn., with an eight-year EMP agreement for twelve PW4000 engines and Capital Cargo, based out of Orlando, Fla., with a five-year EMP agreement for six PW2000 engines. Internationally, China Cargo has signed a three-year EMP agreement on four of its PW2000 engines. Greece-based Astra Airlines has signed a three-year EMP agreement for two V2500 engines and Icelandair has agreed to a five-year EMP agreement for eight PW4060 engines.

Air Astana Selects Pratt & Whitney PW4000-94” Engines in Deal Valued at $90 Million

Air Astana has selected Pratt & Whitney’s PW4000-94” engine for its order of three firm and one option Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft. The contract is valued at approximately $90 million. Delivery of the engines will start in 2013.

Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan and best airline in Central Asia, was incorporated in 2001 and is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The airline’s fleet of 26 aircraft offers service to around 50 domestic and international locations. Air Astana is IOSA registered and has four Skytrax stars.

Pratt & Whitney Offers Service-Proven PW4170 Advantage70™ Engine for Airbus 240 Tonne A330 Aircraft

FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW – Pratt & Whitney will offer its PW4170 Advantage70™ engine, the most reliable and fuel efficient engine available for the A330 aircraft, for the new Airbus 240 tonne A330 aircraft.

With nearly 14 million hours in service, the PW4000-100" engine is the most reliable engine available on the A330 with the lowest delay and cancellation rate of any engine on the A330.

Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners Signs Maintenance Agreements with Japan Airlines

SINGAPORE AIR SHOW, Singapore, Feb. 15, 2012 – Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. has selected Pratt & Whitney for a Fleet Management Program agreement and a part repair agreement to provide maintenance for the airline's Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft engines and engine parts.

Under the Fleet Management agreement, Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners' Singapore-based Eagle Services Asia engine overhaul facility will provide maintenance services for the airline's PW4090 engines. Pratt & Whitney will also provide part repair services for the airline's fleet of Pratt & Whitney PW4074, PW4077 and JT9D engines through the Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners part repair network. These seven-year agreements are expected to be worth a combined value of approximately $450 million to Pratt & Whitney over the life of their terms.

Asiana Airlines Selects Pratt & Whitney Fleet Management Program

SINGAPORE AIR SHOW, Singapore, Feb. 14, 2012 – Asiana Airlines has selected Pratt & Whitney for a Fleet Management Program agreement to provide engine maintenance for three of the airline's Pratt & Whitney-powered aircraft. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

Under the six-year agreement, Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners' Singapore-based Eagle Services Asia engine overhaul facility will provide engine maintenance for the airline's six PW4090 engines.

Pratt & Whitney Wins $200 Million PW4000 Advantage70™ Engine Order from Korean Air

SINGAPORE AIR SHOW, Singapore, Feb. 14, 2012 – Korean Air selected Pratt & Whitney’s PW4170 Advantage70™ engine to power five new Airbus A330 aircraft. The agreement, valued at approximately $200 million, represents 10 firm PW4170 engines.

Pratt & Whitney offers the Advantage70 both as a new engine and as an upgrade kit for existing PW4168 engines. The upgrade includes a suite of technology enhancements that can be incorporated into a fleet during engine overhaul. Advantage70 technology delivers superior engine performance, including a 2 percent thrust increase, more than 1 percent reduction in fuel consumption, increased durability, and reduced maintenance costs.

Air China Completes First Sustainable Biofuel Flight Using Pratt & Whitney PW4000 94-inch Engines

Air China, in partnership with Boeing, Honeywell UOP, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, PetroChina and Pratt & Whitney, completed a demonstration flight on Oct. 28 using a sustainable biofuel derived from biomass grown in China.

Air China’s Boeing 747 aircraft, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000 94-inch engines, completed approximately a one hour flight. No modifications to the aircraft or engine were required for the biofuel, which is a “drop-in” replacement for petroleum-based fuel.
